Captain David Hussey is the Vice President of Operations at Liberty Maritime Corporation (‘Liberty”), and is responsible for the operation and chartering of the three 64,000 DWT and three 50,000 DWT vessels owned by Liberty Shipping Group LLC.

Prior to joining Liberty in 1988, Captain Hussey sailed as Master on one of the 64,000 DWT bulk carrier, the M/V ASPEN. Previously he sailed on numerous bulk carriers and tanker vessels with APEX Marine in all deck officer positions.

Born on February 14, 1951 in Alexandria, LA, Captain Hussey was raised in Alexandria and graduated from Holy Savior Menard High School in 1969. He then attended Louisiana State University for two years before transferring to Texas Maritime College in Galveston, TX, an affiliate of Texas A&M University, graduating in 1977.

During his employment with Liberty, Captain Hussey, prior to being promoted to Vice President worked in the chartering and insurance departments, then progressed to a port captain position.

After spending many years as a port captain, he took over the management of the purchasing and personnel departments. He was then promoted to Assistant Vice-President of Operations and four years ago accepted the responsibilities of Vice-President of Operations.
