Thomas F. Keenan is the Vice President of Engineering of Liberty Maritime Corporation (“Liberty”), a New York based ship management company, which is the operating entity for five 64,000 DWT, and three 50,000 DWT Bulk Carriers and one 6,000 units Pure Car / Truck Carrier owned by Liberty Shipping Group, LLC. Liberty operates the largest privately held U.S. Flag pure dry bulk fleet.

Prior to joining Liberty in 2003, Mr. Keenan served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of American V. Ships Marine and International Marine Carriers. During his twenty two years in that position, he was responsible for the complete operation and engineering matters for all owned and managed vessels up to a total fleet of thirty six vessels. Prior to V. Ships / IMC, Mr. Keenan was Marine Superintendent Engineer for Apex Marine Corporation for seven years.

Born on June 16, 1949 in New York City, Mr. Keenan was raised in Bayside New York and graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1967. He then attended the Maritime College of the State University of New York, graduating in 1971 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Marine), USCG Engineering License and a commission as Ensign in the US Naval Reserve.

Mr. Keenan currently serves on a number of professional, educational and charitable boards, including the American Bureau of Shipping, the State University of New York, the International Association of Dry Cargo Ship Owners and other local educational institutions and charities.

In 1992, he was named SUNY Distinguished Alumnus. In 1993 he was selected as the Maritime Colleges Distinguished Alumnus. In 2007, he was honored for contributions to the Maritime College.

He is married to the former Laureen Nicholson. They reside in Lattingtown, New York, a Long Island suburb. They have three children, Diana, Laura and Carolyn.
