ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Liberty Maritime Corporation ("Liberty" or the "Company") recognizes the unique impact that our operations have on the environment, especially the marine environment. Environmental compliance is a cornerstone of our management policy. Accordingly, Liberty and it's ships have been certified to the internationally recognized ISO 14000 standard for environmental compliance.
The Company has a zero tolerance policy regarding violations of compliance with any and all applicable local, national and international pollution prevention laws and regulations. That means Liberty personnel should comply fully and should insist on compliance by their shipmates and co-workers. Furthermore, Liberty personnel should immediately report any instance of noncompliance to the Company and should always be truthful in dealings with government officials. Liberty personnel should not take short cuts when it comes to environmental compliance. The Company will provide the resources necessary to ensure compliance.
Liberty will continue to implement measures to improve environmental compliance by (1) soliciting input and advice from our crews; (2) conducting annual environmental management reviews (3) investing in new technology; (4) providing direct oversight and assistance to crews on waste management; (5) auditing internally to verify compliance; (5) hiring third-party auditors to verify compliance; and (6) bolstering environmental training by compliance training seminars. Liberty also proactively strives to improve our systems, equipment, management and training to minimize environmental harm.
Our Office of Quality Management has been charged with setting environmental objectives and targets. The Vice-President of Engineering is responsible for reviewing these goals and providing the resources to implement them. The implementation and progress of these programs must be reported directly to the undersigned annually.
The Company is committed to providing the necessary authority and resources to implement this policy. Successful implementation requires the cooperation of all Company personnel. All crew members must contribute to this effort by strictly adhering to all of the Company's rules, policies, and procedures. You can also contribute by making suggestions for changes in procedures or equipment. Senior officers should both collect and submit recommendations. Any employee or interested party can also file suggestions for improvement, comments or a complaint with the "Office of Quality Management" for consideration. Email address:
